MAKE SPACE FOR YOU

MAKE SPACE FOR YOU

grow heal love, keep it simple, live with intention, live your purpose
ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED IN 2015 ON focusonsimple.co 2015 is all about simplifying. Life got a lot overwhelming in 2014. Overwhelming to the point where you're holding on to your gratitude for your health, having food to eat, + the well-being of those you love, wondering what the next challenge is going to be, + not sure how much more capacity to deal you have. So by the end of the year I found myself yearning for some simplicity, some zen, some space to recharge + process the entirety of the previous year. + in simplifying, I'm focusing on the commitments I make. I tend to take on too many things - make too many commitments. I think that's an affliction most of us have. As a result I find that I do nothing really well. + I'm feeling…

OBSERVATIONS

grow heal love, live with intention, live your purpose
ORIGINALLY POSTED IN 2012 ON focusonsimple.co Last week, I came across a whole slew of articles on finding your passion, + what to do with it once you've found it. Which seemed lucky, as they were providing answers I was looking for + information I wanted to share, record, think about, process. But at the end of the week, that was it, + I wasn't sure where to go from there. Well, it's Monday morning, + I have about four or five tabs open with articles, blogs + sites that I want to delve into...all very uplifting, with messages of growth, inner-peace, + hopefulness. So I'm going to try a new thing - we'll see how it goes. When it seems that themes are starting to appear in a week's…

ONE STEP AT A TIME

ONE STEP AT A TIME

live your purpose
ORIGINALLY POSTED IN 2012 on focusonsimple.co I went running this morning - more of a jog, really. + though I took a few small breaks to walk, I can confidently say that I jogged this morning. Not for a long period of time...but I jogged. I jogged further this morning than I did yesterday morning. When I first started, I walked. It's all because of the dog, really. Thank goodness for his furry face + the fact that he needs to go outside to use the facilities. Last summer we got a large deposit of top soil in our driveway in order to do a bit of foundation work, + to even out the backyard. So when the dirt was down in the backyard, + the grass was growing, we needed to…

INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO DO WHAT YOU LOVE

INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO DO WHAT YOU LOVE

live your purpose
ORIGINALLY POSTED IN 2012 ON focusonsimple.co RE: previous post. Now, having said that, please remember + refer to this... Crazy Talk: The Do-What-You-Love Guide ‘Everything you can imagine is real.’ ~Pablo Picasso Post written by Leo Babauta at Zen Habits When I wrote the first words of this blog, more than five years ago, I had no idea those few keystrokes would change my life. I thought I was doing nothing more than reflecting on the changes that had been happening in my life, sharing a bit about what I learned with a handful of friends. I thought those tinkling of computer keys would fade into the void, as most of my thoughts had before that. I didn’t imagine that a year later, I would have 26,000 people reading my blog…

THE MISCONCEPTIONS OF DOING WHAT YOU LOVE

THE MISCONCEPTIONS OF DOING WHAT YOU LOVE

live your purpose
ORIGINALLY POSTED IN 2012 ON focusonsimple.co When I was growing up one of the things I was told, + which has stayed with me, is to 'do what you love, + the money will follow'. Not that I'm hoping to make loads of cash, rather, I'd like to support myself + family by doing something that is really fulfilling + makes the days sparkle. Sounds great, in theory. + that's what I've focused on - doing the things that I love, think that I love, searching for what I love...thinking that if I loved it, it would be easy. But nothing worth doing is easy (see, another quote...from who? I don't remember. I govern my life by quotes. Maybe not the best practice...). The 'do' part of 'do what you love...'…

IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER AGAIN

IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER AGAIN

family, grow heal love, live with intention, live your purpose
By Erma Bombeck, 'If I had my life to live over again'... "I would have talked less and listened more. I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was  stained and the sofa faded. I would have eaten the popcorn in the good living room and worried  much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the  fireplace. I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about  his youth. I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer  day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed. I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it  melted in storage. I would have sat on the lawn with my…

grow heal love, live your purpose
ORIGINALLY POSTED IN 2012 ON focusonsimple.co I just got laid off. The firm has to make cut backs + because my particular skills aren't in demand right now, I've been let go. The way I see it, it's a big blow to one's ego...potentially incredibly stressful, financially...but the thing I've been trying to focus on, is the new possibility for amazing opportunity. The question is what can be done with this opportunity. My husband + I have already started making a few connections for some possible projects. + we need to take it one day at a time. But, if we play things smart + sensible, we could be in a better place then we were before I got laid-off. I'm looking forward to that first non-work weekday morning when…
