Seasonal Rhythms & Seasonal Planning

I’m trying something new this year. I began my yearly planning and intention setting with the new moon of March, and will be basing my planning and energy on the rhythms of the seasons and the lunar cycle.

Spring is a season of hope, planting seeds, and new beginnings. The days become longer, and it’s time to start putting plans and actions in place to give life and nourish those dreams that are made possible by that season of rest and renewal through deep winter months.

Here are the questions I start with at the beginning of the year:
What are your hopes and dreams for the year?
What feelings do you want to cultivate?
What experiences do you want to create?
How do you imagine your life at the year’s end?
What values do I hold?
Are there areas of my life that feel out of alignment with what I’ve identified above/previously?
Are there parts of my life that I want to change or nurture?

As we look ahead to the year to come, keep in mind how your energy typically ebbs and flows through the seasons.

This is what mine looked like through 2025. A blend of everything, but definite seasons of high and low energy. It’s not possible to operate at 100% all year long – it’s not possible to stay in a mindset and energy of ‘doing’ and ‘productiveness’ all the time. It’s a lie that we’ve been fed by colonialism and patriarchy, sorry but it’s true. Our perception of our value and worth has been tied to what we ‘produce’ for the GDP. Lies, lies, lies.

I’m trying to move away from a focus on goals and the Gregorian calendar, which tries to rationalise and maximise our time and schedules separate from the ebbs and flows of natures cycles and rhythms. I think we can see that the way we’ve been operating is really not serving us…humanity…life on earth in general.

So this will be just one part of my rebellion – disengaging from a calendar set by men, and turning towards the guidance of seasonal energy, the turning of the moon, rhythms and cycles of nature.
