A bit o’ truth from this little journey of ours. I’ve discussed before about some of the challenges our family has dealt with over the past year (plus). There has been no 180degree turn. but I’m climbing steadily to a place of peace, positivity, acceptance, growth. This is how it’s happened :
No light bulb, no switch flip, no lightning bolt of revelation.
A slow, steady, uncomfortable, sometimes unbearable, stumbling crawl in a progressively upwards direction. There have been times that have seemed light + beautiful. + times when I’ve wanted to just scream, give up, + slide back down to start again. Two steps forward, one step back, repeat, sometimes three steps forward, no steps back. It’s a big learning curve for me. Learning to heal, learning to grow together, learning to trust that things won’t always be a struggle.
Between + because of all the life ish that’s been happening, I’ve been coming across topics of mindfulness, connection, simplicity. I’m stripping away the excess of our stuff, commitments, etc.
In fact, here’s a great synopsis of things that you should get minimal on asap, things that I’m taking to heart + putting into action: The 10 Most Important Things to Simplify in Your Life @ becoming minimalist by joshua becker
goal number 1
Get rid of the junk. Get it out of your life. Life is short. Make space for the really good stuff. Make it count.
goal number 2
Life isn’t always perfect + that’s ok. Be in whatever moment it is that you’re experiencing. Life is short. Every moment is precious. Be in it.
goal number 3
Be vulnerable.
Life satisfaction, deep love, having purpose, feeling fulfilled – it starts with being vulnerable + being loving + accepting of yourself first. It is so so good. What do you value in this life? Let your relationships be near the top of that list. Being connected, feeling valued, being of value – can seem hard to define + quantify, but is so important for the fulfillment of your heart + spirit.
Here’s the TED Talk by Brene Brown about vulnerability + connection. Watch it often.
Love + accept yourself. Love + accept others. Be open. Life is so short. Protect your connections fiercely + with love, by being vulnerable.
